The Nigerian Stock Exchange This Week




Investors continue to trade with caution through out the week even as more result were released in the cause of the week. 

However The All Share index appreciated by 0.68% to close the week at 43,167.86. This brought the year to date return of the ASI to 12.88%.


EQUITY

A total turnover of 3.079 billion shares worth N39.990 billion in 23,086 deals were traded this week by investors on the floor of the Exchange in contrast to a total of 2.170 billion shares valued at N39.087 billion that exchanged hands last week in 24,657 deals.  

ETPs

Also traded during the week were a total of 4 units of Exchange Traded Products (ETPs) valued at N22,400.00 executed in 1 deal, compared with a total of 50,547 units valued at N4.593 million that was transacted last week in 12 deals

BONDS

A total of 2,823 units of Federal Government Bonds valued at N2.642 million were traded this week in 21 deals, compared with a total of 6,574 units valued at N6.332 million transacted last week in 31 deals

Forty-five (45) equities appreciated in price during the week, higher than thirty-eight (38) of the previous week. Forty (40) equities depreciated in price, lower than forty-five (45) equities of the previous week, while eighty-seven (87) equities remained unchanged lower than eighty-nine (89) equities recorded in the preceding week.

We expect more result to be released in the cause of the week as the deadline for rendition draws nearer. We expect investors to realigned their portfolios in order to benefit from the Market movement in the coming week as we have seen the resurgent of some penny stocks that dominated the top gainers list and the reason the ASI did not appreciated much, even has the number of shares traded jumped up by 41.89% against the preceding week.
